Four Foods on Friday 41

Not Friday I know but here we go for this week:

#1. If you could travel anywhere to have a meal, where would you want to go and what would you want to eat.

Don't get me started on this because food and travel are two of the greatest thing sin the world. I would love to enjoy pasta and a good red wine as I overlook the vineyards of Tuscany. Or Chinese food from a street stand in Hong Kong (OK I've done that one). Freshly caught fish cooked on the beach as soon as they are brought ashore. You can never go wrong with a good view and good food.

#2. When you go away do you make your own meals or eat out?

It depends where we're going and where we're staying. If we're staying in a hotel, we'll eat out but we try to make a point of eating at small locally owned places rather than the chains. If we're renting a cabin, we'll split it 50/50 between eating out and cooking for ourselves.

#3. While traveling if you have to stop for a meal do you go in or do you go through the drive thru and eat in the car?

We usually stop because it's easier for whichever one of us is driving.

#4. Share a recipe or food related trip for people making a long trip by car.

Trail mix is a brilliant thing to have in the car at all times. We have a really hand food carrier that we can plug into the cigarette lighter and it can keep food warm or cool as we want. It's just big enough to hold a few cans and snacks in the summer or maybe a few preheated things of chili in the winter. Bananas and jerky are great to carry too as you don't have to deal with juice on your hands, making a mess, etc.

The plug in food cooler/heater sounds like the best idea ever. Hot coffee on a cold drive would be wonderful.

We got it at Target last year. They had several sizes. Great for keeping canned drinks cool in the summer too.

We thought we would cook when we stayed at a cabin but it was so much easier to grab a bite while out. We did make sandwiches a couple of times.

That cooler is a great idea and with all the traveling I do, I should go grab one. Thanks!

When I was growing up, we would stay in cabins in Colorado. Sometimes we would go trout fishing and then my mother would cook what we caught. The scenery was beautiful. So I know what you mean about beautiful scenery and good food.

Ah, fish on the fire as soon as it comes out of the water - good, good stuff (especially if someone else cleans it!)

Thanks for playing FFOF while I was away!
